How is it attached? The bolt-on design replaces the hand guard. No drilling, cutting, machining or other modification to the rifle is required. Just field strip your rifle and follow the simple installation instructions. The proper hex wrenches are provided for assembly. The Ruger Mini-14® and Mini-30® model replaces the upper gas block assembly as well.
Will I need a gunsmith to install it? No. This product is intended to be owner-installed, but you can have your gunsmith do it if you wish.
Do I have to modify the rifle to install it? No. And you can easily return the rifle to its original configuration by reinstalling the OEM parts.
How long will it take me to install it? It shouldn't take more than five to ten minutes.
What tools do I need to install it? The hex wrench(s) provided.
Can I mount a flashlight on it? Yes, with the addition of the optional Tactical Light Mount Kit.
Will it get hot if I shoot it a lot? No more so than with the OEM handguard (and upper gas block on Ruger models). All rifles will heat up with a high volume of fire, but the mass and shape of the mount body greatly helps to dissipate the heat.
Do I need to epoxy-bed the Mount Body? No. It does not improve anything (fit, performance, etc.) and it will increase the heat transfer to the Mount Body from the rifle's barrel.
Do I need to use thread sealant (ie. Loctite®) on the screws? We don't. But it wouldn't hurt to do so.
How does it improve accuracy on the Ruger Mini-14® ? The mount body acts like a truss and stiffens the barrel, reducing muzzle whip and helping support the lower gas block.
What is the torque setting for the gas block screws on the Ruger Mini-14®? Ruger won't tell what torque is used on these screws. We have never failed to remove the screws with the hex wrench provided, and we recommend reinstalling them to the mount body as snuggly as you can, using the same hex wrench, but without excessive force. There is no need to twist the hex wrench, break off or strip a screw. We have never heard of a lower gas block coming loose when all of the screws were replaced and securely tightened.
If I have an after-market stock on my Ruger Mini-14®, will the mount still fit and function? Yes.
If I already have a scope mount on my Ruger Mini-14®, why would I need your mount?
To improve the accuracy, dissipate heat, and provide a platform for mounting tactical lights, lasers, etc.

Can I get a stainless finished Mini-Scout-Mount for my stainless Mini-14TM?
Yes. Our Mini-14 Stainless Finish is now available. It
is an aluminum mount with a clear anodized finish.
Will your 10-22 rifle Scout Mount fit on a Hogue
overmolded replacement stock ? Our mount uses a front barrel band
(we send you a new one), so make sure your
Hogue stock uses a barrel band.
Will your 870 mount fit the 870-Super Express Magnum (3 1/2" shell)?
Yes, just like all of the other 870 12ga barrels.
Will the M1 Garand Mini-Scout-Mount fit on a Great Plains Armory (Wichita KS.) 7.62mm NATO barrel? Yes.
Can I purchase any Amega Mounts product for delivery outside the
U.S. ? No. U.S. laws prohibit sale/delivery of our products
outside of the U.S. (Deliveries to APO on a U.S. credit card
excepted.)
SIGHTS
Will I still be able to use the open sights? Yes, on
ALL MODELS except as stated below. The ample sighting groove on the top of the mount allows a clear field of view for use of open OEM sights when scopes or other sighting devices are not attached.
For the Remington 870: A simple bead on a 12ga barrel will be
obscured by the mount. However, practically all of the tactical
mounts available for the 870 today are still useable with our mount
in place.
What kind of sights can I mount on it? Any modern tactical sight system (Aimpoint®, Holosights, Red-dot, laser, etc.), Pistol or Scout scopes can be mounted with Weaver style rings on the Picatinny style top.
Will it interfere with the scope I already have mounted? NO, not if your scope is positioned over the receiver in the traditional position and your rings have the proper height. In some cases you may need taller rings.
FLASHLIGHTS
How does the Light Rail attach? It is attached to the side of the mount body with two screws and the hex wrench provided.
What if I am left-handed? It is easily installed on either side of the mount body for right or left-handed shooters.
Can I mount Light Rails on both sides of the MSM? Yes. You will need to order two of the Kits.
How does a flashlight attach to the Light Rail? Any quick-detachable tactical flashlight (such as the Streamlight® M3, M6, etc.) that utilize
Picatinny or Glock® rails will quickly slide on and lock into place. It will also accept any flashlight that can be secured on a Weaver-style base with a scope ring or other attaching device.
How can larger flashlights be attached? By positioning two Light Rails end-to-end. The multiple anchor points allow secure mounting.
Has anyone tried mounting the long Tactical Light Mount kit to the left side of the M1 Garand Mini-Scout-Mount and then mounting a regular scope on the Tactical Light Mount
creating a side scope location similar to the M1C and M1D, but without the modifications required for the M1C and M1D?Yes. But they used a pistol scope with a longer eye relief. You could
modify a piece of scope base that is long enough to attach to the Mini-Scout-Mount and extend back far enough to allow use of a regular eye relief scope.
What other accessories can be mounted on the Light Rail? Some ingenious folks have attached an extra optical or laser sight, and
others have mounted infrared illuminators. Whatever will fit….
