Will the Mini-Scout-Mount fit a Universal M1 Carbine? If not, are you working on one that will fit?Unfortunately,...no, and no. There were so many variations of gas block styles on the M1-Carbines that we had to settle on a USGI spec to fit the most units available. The Universal was too far off standard to accommodate and two small of a market to produce a specific model for.
Will the Mini-Scout-Mount fit a Kahr Auto-Ordinance M1 Carbine?
We refer to the stock & barrel band version of your M1-Carbine as the "California Kahr". It is not a USGI spec stock & barrel band (which our mount requires), but a special set up by Kahr to meet the restrictive gun laws in CA (perhaps NY also). You have a few options if you want to use our mount:
- You can replace your stock & barrel band with a GI spec parts. Choate makes nice stocks, and GI barrel bands are available from a number of parts dealers.
- If you are mechanically inclined and have a belt sander or bench grinder, you can carefully remove material from the REAR end of the mount (closest to the receiver). Take off only a little at a time, until the mount is short enough to allow your barrel band to seat on the stock. When fitted, touch up the raw metal with flat black paint.
